Dear Families,
To all who attended the Lantern Walk on Thursday 20th, I hope you agree that it was a most special community event and a surprisingly mild night for the walk.
I wish to thank the subcommittee of the School Association for their tireless work and enthusiasm for the Lantern Walk. Thank you to Rebecca Jones, Andrea Easton, Jess Phillips, Sophie Milic, and Lee Miezitis for sending out the communications, and Jessie King our wonderful secretary.
To the kitchen helpers Jane Burleigh, Chris Giffard, Lisa Bullen, Sophie Milic, Hannah Direen and Sarah Alexander. Katy Pryor for coming in for the clean-up.
Brendon Scott (from Scott Electrical) and Daniel Phillips for all the electrical setup, and to Brendan for upgrading our switch board and adding a new circuit and power points to the kitchen on Tuesday.
To the food and drink providers:
Rodney Dann - Wattlebanks
Mark and Christine Duggan from Huon Valley Juice Company
Mark Robertson from Lost Pippin
Russell and Anita Crook at Tasmanian Kitchen Pantry
Andrea and Simon Easton
Nick Pastoor – Puddleduck Vineyard
Greg and Cody Watson (sparklers)
Alex Wilson (fire pot and wood)
Thank you all for your ongoing support of our school.
To the Richmond volunteer Fire Brigade and the Sorell Police for escorting the lantern walk, without their support this event would not happen.
None of this happens without the support of the amazing staff here at Richmond Primary.

Parent, Student, Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all families who this week have attended our parent, student, teacher interviews. The purpose of these interviews is to provide students and families with information about the child’s learning progress and achievement, including their social and personal development. We hope to support student learning by indicating areas for further development and to foster two-way communications between parents/carers and teachers to engage families in supporting student learning.
It has been very reassuring to see the very high level of engagement from families in this process.
Breakfast Club
Our new breakfast club program is commencing at the start of Term 3. Initially the Breakfast Club will run Monday and Thursday mornings from 8.30 – 8.50 as children are arriving at school. The club is open to anyone wanting a hot chocolate and slice of toast.
We have already received very generous donations from:
Kosta - Richmond IGA
Richmond Bakery
Coal River Valley Red Cross Branch
Chris and Simon Giffard
And we thank you all for your wonderful support of our school.
The school has also purchased two commercial toasters and have up graded the power to the kitchen in the hall to cope with the extra load on the electrical system. Thank you to Brendan Scott for completing this work.
So, if you can volunteer some time to assist with the running of the program then please contact the School Association. This program will be run solely by volunteers, and we all know many hands make light work.
I hope everyone has a restful holiday break as Term 3 indicated by the calendar below is already looking busy.
Regards
Clare

1/2B News
1/2B have been learning about the history of the Richmond bridge. They have been using their researching skills and have made information posters about the bridge.
Some students decided to make a replica of the bridge using building blocks and even included the ducks swimming underneath! They were very proud of their creation.
