Richmond Primary School Newsletter Wednesday 12th February 2025
Principal's Address
I would like to welcome all our families for the new school year with a special welcome to our new and old Richmond Primary students and families. I hope that you have had an enjoyable summer break and some precious family time together.
Settling into the New School Year
Across the school our students have settled into their new classes, with great excitement as they greeted new and old friends. Our staff have worked hard to ensure the transition to the new school year, new classes and new grade levels have been as smooth as possible.
Our smallest students are commencing their learning journey this week in Kinder with students having staggered starts over Tuesday and Wednesday.
Our focus for this term is aligned to the DECYP value of CONNECTION. As a school we will continue to work to build a dynamic, diverse Richmond Primary community with shared values and understanding. Connection, a true sense of belonging is very important for every child. Children thrive when they feel safe, cared for and have strong relationships with their peers and adults within our community.
Over the holidays our grounds and office staff along with Daz created a little oasis for our students, and you may have noticed the new tables that allow students to eat their lunch in a more relaxed setting. We are still waiting to hear if we have been successful in our grant application to renew the old playground. I will let you know as soon as we hear.

School times: 8.30 am – 2.50 pm
School supervision on site commences at 8.30 am and concludes at 3.00pm each day. Any child arriving at school before 8.30am, is not supervised and more importantly if they then left the school neither the parents nor the school would be aware for some time that they were missing. Lady Gowrie provides before and after school care for students arriving before 8.30am and after school care from 2.50pm in the afternoon. The contact details for Lady Gowrie are below:

You must complete the Safeguarding training yearly before volunteering with young people.

Please use the link below to complete your training and let the office know once completed.
Passenger Conduct Code for School Bus Services
For many students and families across the state, bus travel is an important part of getting to and from school. All students have the right to feel safe while waiting for, travelling on, boarding and disembarking from buses. That's why the Department of State Growth has teamed up with the Tasmanian Bus Association, Catholic Education Tasmania and contracted school bus operators to bring together a code of conduct for passengers. The code aims to keep all those using bus services to and from school, safe.
We encourage parents and carers to read the code and chat with their families about what behaviour is and isn't appropriate for the school bus.
You can read the code here:
